Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was finding a keyboard at her loft, where she was attracted by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music, not for work or as hobby but in order to grow. Her first step was to compose her own songs. She points to renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as inspirations, and also an appreciation for the style of Bjork. After her mom told her that her songs can assist her in gaining fame, but also make others see their importance on the planet and realise how they can benefit from them, she decided to make a public debut. Her first piano lesson was when she was only six and started writing songs at the age of nine. The family members didn't know about it until she turned fourteen. It was never a dream to become Aurora. She claims she loves to compose songs. She claims that music is her preferred method of feeling something.
